MONSTERS OF MURDAC By Jonathan Partington This is an interesting game, with very good on-line hints. Although you do not have the questions for which the hints give answers, most can be deduced. You can recognize treasures when you drop them: they are followed by an exclamation point (!). There are several random elements in the game: 1. Reading the writing on the grave. You see a name and what/who it refers to. You will need to say the name and perform an action associated with whatever is buried there. The hints tell you: werewolf - howl town crier - shout noise abatement - whisper baritone - sing sign language - mime You need to do this before entering the house. 2. The pigeon is in different locations 3. The magic word in the alchemist's lab differs. 4. The magic word to leave the island differs. 5. When you look in the bowl of water, you will see either a staff, a ribbon, or a scroll. These objects are involved in transactions between the wizard and his daughter. This walkthrough is based on seeing the staff. It you see the ribbon or scroll in the vision, postpone your trip to the island until you have that object. Make sure that you have the magic word that will guarantee your return from the island. There are two very challenging mazes. There are hints given for one, but not for the other. Persevere at the second one. It often looks like you have entered a room you've been in before, but it is often a different one. Map carefully. Try all the possible exits. Since there are no saves allowed once you are inside, save just before you go in, since you need to restart the maze each time to check out all the exits from a room. Don't give up or return when you find the bread. There is a treasure hidden deep inside. To avoid spoiling your fun, the solution to the maze is printed separately, at the end of the walkthrough. In the house you need to go the opposite way to where you were hit. Remember that you are facing in the direction you entered. Eventually you get out. SW, DROP MYRRH, N, DROP BREAD, GET PIGEON, W, S, DROP PIGEON, LOOK (you see a magic word), say the word, GET STATUETTE, N, E, S, GET TIEPIN, DROP STATUETTE, GET DUMMY, E, D, D, PRICK DUMMY (you get another magic word), U, U, W, DROP DUMMY, DROP TIEPIN, GET STAFF, N, W, W, W, S, S, WAVE STAFF, W, W, W, WAVE BEADS (you are given a bible), wander around until the sword starts to twitch, DIG, GET EIGHT, return back to the eastern tip of the island, say the magic word, E, E, N, N, E, E, E, S, E, D, S (you are told you can only go in once. You find the daughter who gives you a ribbon), U, W, DROP WIG, NE, SE, U (you are given a scroll), D, D, SW, E, D, (without the wig the troll does not recognize you), S (the maiden reads the scroll and disappears), U, W, NE, SE, U, GET AMETHYSTS, D, D, SW, S. You now have all the treasures. Take as many as you can to deliver to the keep which is two moves north. GET ALL works, but you then need to drop the non-treasure objects in a different room. You can take them with you if you want. You will need to do this several times to drop off all the treasures. Whenever you are in the keep, heed the man's words: DROP ALL, TAKE LAMP. Once you have dropped all the treasures, you are asked which object to take with you. Say SWORD. You find yourself at the lake. THROW SWORD, and you are finished. Maze solution: .
