http://users.bart.nl/~jamin Hexen II Playing Guide (Part 1) Just trying to get you through the solution is going to be a big enough job, so we've ignored all the monsters (remember to keep your eyes peeled) and generally haven't worried about pointing out all the goodies that you can collect. As far as we know, this solution will work brilliantly with all the characters at any difficulty level. Let us know if that's not the case and we'll make some addditions in our forthcoming issues. Hexen II has some great cheats available which are different to the ones in Quake. Have a look at Foul Play on page 64 for the codes. The Bones of Loric Turn right and run up the ramp to the side of the angel statue. Go through the door and touch the switch on the right side of the mural to your right. This opens the mural on the opposite wall, revealing a hole. Jump down it, hit the switch next to the bars and walk through the teleport.Return to the opening area and take the other exit. Once you get through the door, click the triangular switch to your right. As the coffin moves to one side, step into the sunken stone, opening a door to your left. Go through it and continue going down the hall. When you get to the open space, take the path to the left through a cave. Jump in the water to the right when you get to the wooden bridge and find a triangular switch. Hit it and go through the teleport to your left. Continue down the hall and move the lever to activate a giant wheel. Press a triangular switch on the wall to open the bars. Pass through the big door opened by the wheel, and walk to the bones. The Mill Key Jump into the water on your left and pass through the teleport. Walk into the bars and then into the Wizard's Lab. You can see the Barbican door is to your left - take it. Follow the cave until you get to the giant catapult and enjoy watching the sheep get flung over the wall. Stand on the catapult yourself, look down and fire. As you pass over the wall, walk backwards briefly to collect some goodies. Follow the cave round to the left until you reach the broken wall (which leads to some power-ups). Open the big door and walk to the drawbridge. Drop into the moat and head left. Note the wooden grate and smash through it, following the passage until the first right. Swim up and break through the damaged wall. Now read the message on the floor by the table. Open the door on the left and turn up the left hand stairs. Take a right up more stairs and destroy the crossbow in the far corner. Descend the stairs and take the door to the right. Walk through the next two rooms until you see some jars. Break the three on the far wall to reveal a symbol set in the wall. Shoot the symbol to reveal a secret passage that leads to a crossbow. Use the crossbow to destroy the tower in the distance, revealing a teleport. Jump over the moat and jump your way to the teleport. You find yourself at a nearby ledge containing the Mill Key. Crush the Bones Jump into the moat and swim left, following it back to the drawbridge. Retrace your steps back to Blackmarsh (the area you started in) where a door provides a shortcut to the catapult. From the Wizard's Lab, take the steps to the right and follow the cave over the bridge and into the open area. Hang a left and pass through the door to The Mill. Head forward, drop down into the pond, jump over the bushes and follow the path. (You can get a Chaos Device over your head by standing on the bush and doing a running jump to the left of the outcrop. Weapon Two is there also.) Take the cave under the outcrop to an open area with two teleport. Use the left one to get to the Mill. Take the ramp to the right and go through the door on your left. Walk round to the back of the grindstone and walk up to it, so that you get the message about the bone dust. Head back to the front of the windmill to collect the dust. Go back through the teleport and then take the other one to enter a cloister. Press the lever by the bell to open an underground passage, which you should follow back to the door to Blackmarsh. The Castle Key Head back to the Wizard's Lab and walk into the gold pool to make a potion. After collecting it, return to the Barbican. Walk through the cave, past the catapult, and into the castle as before. Retrace your steps to the secret door, but take the door just to the left this time. Take the stairs and hit the lever to activate the drawbridge. Continue up the ramp to the Tomb of Power and cauldron. You will find that there's a hole in the floor ahead of you to the left which you should drop through. Follow the passage to a room with broken stairs. You need to shove a barrel into the gap and up the slight incline so that you are able to climb up, allowing you to head left. Open the window, drop into the moat and swim off to the right. Walk into the yellow Mithril door on your left to transform it to wood. Smash the wood to retrieve the castle key. Now swim to your left and fetch the Ring of Water Breathing and swim on to the drawbridge which is now open. Climb out of the water and cross the drawbridge, following the passage to the open area, where you should head right towards the castle entrance. Unlock the doors and walk straight through to the King's Court. The Treasury Key Walk around the central brick structure and down the opposite hall to a crossroads marked by a butcher's sign. Head left until you get to the Stables' doorway, and pass through it. Walk through the double doors and follow the hall until you pass through a big wooden door on your right. Pass all the action around you to smash your way through the hay bails ahead. Next to the bloody corpse is a note about a buried key. Turn around and head to the other hay bails at the foot of a ladder, which you should climb. At the top of the ladder is a passage heading left and leading to a ramp. Climb up all the ramps to the top and walk into a closed door on your left. Hop across the rafters to a wooden door on your right. Open it, walk through and operate the switch. Fall down to the ground and walk through the now open secret door and retrieve the shovel. Turn around now and drop back into the stables. Turn left, walk a few steps, then turn right, which heads towards a tree marking the location of the hidden Treasure Key, found just to the left. This is the forge's lawn. The Tailor's Key Retrace your steps back to the King's Court. From there, turn left and return to the crossroads at the butcher's. Keep ahead until you get to the Inner Courtyard door on your left - walk through it. Now walk left to the guillotine. Shoot out the glass behind it and jump into the space revealed. Push the symbol on the wall repeatedly and follow the passage to the Forgotten Chapel door. Now you should follow the hall to the left and open the second wooden door. Climb to the top of the stairs, walk straight past the alter and jump up the three steps that you can see to the left of the altar. Push on the second angel motif from the left so that the alter slides back. This will reveal a hidden passage. Next, drop down the passage and into a spider's den. Smash the corpse that's wrapped in a web and collect the Tailor's Key that has just miraculously appeared behind you. The Disrupt Magic Scroll and the Amulet of Hunger Walk back to the den and smash your way down to the sewers. Follow through them for a couple of minutes to a door and and a teleport. Fall down into the pool, run up the ramp and walk through the first wooden door on the right that was blocked earlier. Pass back through the Inner Courtyard and King's Court doors. Head right and pass straight through the crossroads. Turn left at the door leading to the Stables and left again at the Tailor's sign. Enter the shop and head upstairs. Unlock his closet and knock out the false back to get the Disrupt Magic Scroll. Walk back to the crossroads and turn right, back to where you originally started in the King's Court. Pass through the magical barrier on the left and enter the doors to The Palace. Walk down the hall to the throne room and keep going straight through the door that rolls out of the way into the bedroom. Swim or jump over the bathing pool and pass down the hall, jumping over a balcony to land in a courtyard with fountain in it. Walk through the door on the right and follow the passage down to a spiral staircase. You will find the treasure room at the bottom of the stairway. Enter it to retrieve the Amulet of Hunger and walk on through the teleport. Sand, Glass and Lens Return to the Butcher's crossroads, head left and take the first right to the building labelled 'The Shoppe'. Head upstairs and shoot the small chest and secret wall at the foot of the bed. This leads to the Secret Shine of the The Brotherhood of Hunger. Walk up to the altar to read a message.Walk out of The Shoppe and head back to the Stables. Return to the Forge that hid the treasury key. Run upstairs and press the button next to the fireplace. Enter the secret passage and follow it to find the Stable Key. Retrace your steps, leave the forge, and return to where the Shovel is hidden. Walk up the first ramp on the left that you used earlier, but take the first exit to the right that leads to a new room. Take the second left, unlocking the door with the Stable key. A trapdoor is covered by a rug which can be smashed. Step down through the trapdoor, smashing the wooden wall that follows and walking through the double doors. Press the switch on the left and collect the sand in the trough on the right. Walk up the ramp that you can see on the far end of the room and return to the Forge. Walk up to the coal heater by the anvil to melt the sand to glass. Return to the King's Court and back to the Inner Courtyard again. Head right and follow the hall to another shop. Walk upstairs, duck down and walk into the fireplace. Use the stones to climb to the top and duck down to get through the gap. Walk into the grindstone to create the Lens of Seeing.Collect it from the right of the grindstone. The Crystal Golem Make your way back to the guillotine, but head to the right this time. Follow the hall up a ramp and head left across a catwalk. Climb the stairs before walking through a teleport at the back of the room. Keep walking forwards through the Crystal Arch, granting you the power to kill the Crystal Golem. Pass back through the teleport and return to the catwalk. Drop to the left and follow the path to the tombstone maker's shop. Walk upstairs and press the switch by the bookcase, which reveals a hidden passage. Follow this and take the door to the left. Follow the hall to a room with a blood-stained pedestal. Head down the ramp on your left and walk through the teleport. Hopefully you've got some ammo left, because it's time to kill the Crystal Golem. When he's dead, walk through a passage to the red teleport. Get ready to run, because you are now in the domain of the First Horseman, Famine. Defeat him to be able to proceed to the next level. The Ornamental Stone Key From The Plaza of the Sun walk forward and take a left at the intersection. Press the button on the wall before turning round and heading back to the intersection. Proceed down the new passage straight ahead of you and press the lever at the end to extend a bridge across the lava. Return to the junction, head right, and zig-zag across the bridge, walking bravely into the building. Walk up the altar ahead of you, which releases the wall at the top of the stairs. Waiting for you at the top is, thankfully, weapon three. Turn and face the stairs. Turn to the left for a Tomb of Power, then continue to the other side to find a door taking you to the Obelisk of the Moon. Follow the path around and down the stairs, then enter the building. Head straight to a room containing an obelisk. You must walk on both of the floor panels to open three doors. Walk through the left door and follow the hall to a corridor with torches lining the walls. Take a right to get to a collapsing bridge. Don't attempt to cross it as you need it to get back. Instead, drop just off the edge of the platform before the bridge and back into the teleport. This whizzes you to the Ornamental Stone Key. The Fire Element Now you need to use the bridge. Save the game and then run across the collapsing structure, not forgetting to jump at the end. Return to the main door leading to The Plaza of the Sun, where you first started the hub. Walk down the stairs by the altar and step into the corridor behind the stairs where you will find two locked marble doors (they almost look invisible). Open the door to the left and follow the hall to the Test of Fire. You must now prove your worth by hopping across the various raising platforms to hit three buttons positioned on each of the three walls. This is damned hard, so don't be ashamed if you want to use the cheats to get through it. When (or if) you have achieved this, jump onto the centre area and walk around to the front, facing your entrance point. You will find the Fire Element here, rich for the pickings. The Jade Skull Walk to the button on the wall right by the location of the Fire Element. This causes a platform to drop, giving you access to the Court of 1,000 Warriors. Climb the stairs, pass through the double doors and then climb up the next set of stairs. Head either left or right to get to the outside of the buildings, grabbing any power-ups that you like the look of on the way. Walk around to the front of the building and head up the stairs. Tread on the disk with the red dagger and watch it rotate. You'll notice that it points to a platform that has risen from the lava. Be quick to retrieve a Stone of Summoning. A door has opened to the left of this lava which leads to a hall. Head either left or right when you reach the Ring of Turning, and walk down the stairs into a chamber. An unbarred door to the right leads down a set of stairs to a broken rope bridge. Walk along the bridge until you drop down and then walk through a passage to the right. Dive into the water and press a switch ahead of you, which removes the bars in the floor. Swim down the exposed tunnel, collect the Jade Skull, and hit the second switch next to you. The Water Element Swim back up through an exit that has appeared above you. Jump out of the water and follow the corridor back to the start of the broken rope bridge, past the Staff of the Ovimencer that can be collected (some power-ups are available on the otherside of the bridge.). Retrace your steps to the door of The Plaza of the Sun. You are now standing next to a lift. You must press the button to activate it, then retrace your steps to the second marble door that opened when you retrieved the Ornate Stone Key. Walk down the hall to get to the Square of the Stream. Next, jump over the stream and walk through the door that lies ahead of you.Approach the yard with four separate exits on each wall and head down the one on the right. Follow the passageway to a well. Save here, as the well leads to a long series of waterlogged tunnels, with precious few breathing spaces. Thankfully, there are few dead-ends, so swim as fast as you can, taking turns in the pipes as necessary. You will soon find another well that will reward you with the Water Element. The Serpent's Heart and the Crystal Skull As you collect the Water element, a passage behind you opens. Go through it and return to the yard with the four passageways. Walk straight across to the exit that is now unbarred. You have arrived at a large room with an obelisk. Take any power-ups there and leave through a passage that is under the stairs you first descended. Follow the hall into another big room. Go around the edge of the pool and step on to a floor panel at the back. This will raise a platform in the centre of the pool, home to the Serpent's Heart. Retrace your steps, but just before returning to the room with the obelisk, take the narrow staircase on your left. This is a shortcut to the lawn with the four exits. Continue up the stairs ahead of you to a room with a Tomb of Power and altar in front of a small pool. Approach the altar and then drop off the Serpent's Heart. This will make the Crystal Skull available. The Element of Air Retrace your steps to the lawn with four exits and take the stairs opposite you back to the Plaza of the Sun.Follow the hall back to the room containing the first altar. Climb the stairs, then go back to the door leading to the Obelisk of the Moon. Walk to the room with the obelisk and four exits, then head into the room opposite. Walk up to the red shelf ahead of you to drop off one Crystal Skull. Turn around, head back to the obelisk and take the left exit, placing the second skull on the shelf. A secret door opens to your left, leading to a room containing a door to the Palace of Columns. Head forwards, and turn left when you reach a hallway. Follow the hall down to a large outdoor area, with a big Aztec pyramid on your left and a colonnade to your right. Walk down the narrow passage between the columns of the colonnade.Approach a T- junction with several pillars facing you. Two passages stretch ahead of you. Take the right-hand one and walk down to some lava. Pressing the button on your left will raise a bridge. Pressing a similar button on the other side of the lava will raise a bridge higher up on your right. Run quickly back to the pillared T-junction and turn right and then right again to enter the second of the two passages, crossing the second bridge you just raised. Walk around the angled catwalk to the teleport. This takes you through to the Tomb of the High Priest.Ahead of you is a large area on the left containing the second element of weapon four. Walk straight across the arena and turn left down a hall and short flight of stairs. The large room you walk into probably contains at least a Skull Wizard. After dispatching him with extreme prejudice, turn around and take one of the passages either side of the stairs you descended. Walk through the green area to the back wall, which slides back. It also turns into a crushing block, so run past it when safe and get to a balcony overlooking a sarcophagus. Drop over the edge and walk up to the sarcophagus to open it. This reveals a new passage underneath the balcony, which you should follow to obtain the Element of Air. The Element of Earth Retrace your steps to the door leading to the Palace of Columns. Take either the left or right ramp from the teleport. Walk back to the hallway and head either left or right to return to the outdoor area with the Aztec pyramid and colonnade. Walk around the back of the pyramid and take the narrow stairs to enter the Court of 1,000 Warriors. Take the stairs to the left and drop down from the catwalk. Now you must go to your left and prepare to prove yourself in the Test of Earth. You have to get past the crushing blocks to retrieve the Element of Earth. The Bridge of Stars Halfway back through the crushing blocks, turn and take the lift back up to the Palace of Columns. Return to the door leading to the Obelisk of the Moon. Now return to the room containing the obelisk and four exits. Take the exit nearest to the stairs leading to the obelisk and then take your first left to the Bridge of Stars. Now walk up the stairs and cross over the bridge, collecting the first part of weapon four. Continue along the hall to either the left or right to reach the Bridge of Stars. Take the hallway that is on the other side of the bridge to the teleport. Place the four Elements of Earth, Air, Water and Fire in the middle of each bridge, dropping down to the lower level after each one is placed. Return to the teleport and take the new set of stairs that are on your left. Walk down them and into the red teleport. The Second Horesman, Death, is there for the shooting. Part two THYSIS HUB This Egyptian hub concentrates more on puzzles than fighting, although some of the characters are still tough. And it's Pestilence that requires neutralising this time. The Eye of Horus Walk up the stairs of the Temple of Horus and through the scarab decorated door. Read the signs on the wall and then head left, following the hall up a ramp and through the door. Go left when you get to the small square of four columns and a statue. Follow the hall until you get to a balcony overlooking an obelisk. Hop over the balcony and walk down the passage underneath it. When you get to the small pyramid, hit the ankh button on the right wall, which requires a good jump. (If you have trouble jumping the right height, go to the console and use the sv_gravity cheat to increase your leaping height.) Walk into the pyramid and, avoiding the cobra's fireballs, push on the wall to the right. Walk through to collect the Eye of Horus. The Key of Anubus Hit the button next to you to shut off the cobra's fire and open the door on the other side of the main room. Walk through the door and go down the steep slope to the left. Follow the hall to a red bridge, which leads to a locked door. Commit this location to memory. While on the ledge, look down to the left. Drop down to the platform and break the cracked wall. Follow the passage to a body and a table. Jump up to get the Key of Anubus The Scarab of Time Read the message on the wall about the summer solstice, and return to the ledge. Fall down to the gutter, opening a room full of scorpions. Walk through the blue teleport. Walk back down the slope to the bridge. Unlock the door across the bridge and walk into the Chamber of the Sun, noting the message on the wall about Ra. Walk through the teleport. Turn right and jump down. Walk left through the new passage to a room with a Tome of Power, a barred door and a Bust of Anubus. Place the Eye of Horus in front of the bust, opening the barred door. Walk through the door and left to three teleports and an ankh on the floor. Go through the leftmost teleport to the Palace of the Pharaoh. Either side of the steps in front of you are two grey tubes. Jump into the right tube, hit the grey switch and walk down the now unbarred tube. When you reach the small lake, smash the chest underwater on the left to retrieve the Scarab of Time. The Guardian Key Walk back up the tube and through the red teleport to return to the Temple of Horus. Walk across the room to the teleport that leads to the Temple of Nefertum. Follow the hallway to an area with two ramps leading up to a temple. Take either of the ramps, follow the hall and enter the blue teleport on the right. This is the Wheel of Time, but today (this will make sense shortly). Remember this location. On the left wall is a sign, telling of Set and his Scarab of Time (which you have). Walk up to it and a door to the right opens. Walk through it and follow the hall to the blue Portal of Set. It leads to the same Temple of Nefertum, only 1,000 years in the past... Walk through the door and down the ramp. Smash the wall on the left and walk up the sloped hall. Drop down and walk to the left. Pass by four snake statues, up a set of stairs and a ramp. Trot up to a doorway blocked by three bars. Hit the button next to you to open a second door, giving access to the jar. Walk back to the four snakes and into the new teleport on the right, leading to the Shrine of Naos. Smash the left jar to reveal a floor button. Step on it to open the giant sarcophagus. Walk through the passage, up a left or right ramp, and through the blue teleport on the right. Drop down to the statue's feet on the left, and read the sign on the wall about realigning the Wheel of Time. Walk between the statue's feet and press the wall to open a secret door. Walk up the passage and through the door. A small pyramid on the left is opened by a camouflaged switch on the far corner of the wall. Walk into the pyramid to be taken up to a blue teleport. The Guardian Key is on the statue's lap, which you reach by walking through this teleport. First Canopic Jar Drop down and walk through the passage between the statue's feet. Back at the little pyramid, take the ramp on the right. Find another camouflaged button on the right wall. Look at the wall in front of you, with coloured squares. Remember the three combinations of positions of the green squares for a later, and frankly, annoying puzzle. Walk through the teleport on the left and drop down to the red teleport, leading to the Ancient Temple of Nefertum. Turn right at the four snakes, and take the hall to the left. Follow the ramps leading into the temple, and follow the hall to the left. Unlock the door with the bird on it. Walk into the room with the sarcophagus. Walking up to the coffin on the right causes the wall to shoot fireballs at you. Press the button in the coffin to stop this. Climb up the sarcophagus (there's a step on the left) and collect the Rough Cut Gem. Turn around and follow the secret passage behind you to a bridge with nine buttons on it. This is the annoying puzzle we mentioned, and there's no way we can tell you exactly how to do it. The game randomly picks one of the three patterns shown on the wall, with the green buttons representing which stones to step on. But as well as figuring out which ones are right, you also need to take your time walking across them. Step off each button and wait for it to pop back up before stepping on the next one. If you get it wrong, you are teleported back to the pyramid. Alternatively, turn off clipping (using 'noclip' on the console) and drop down below the floor, only rising back up when you get to the vase. Hapy Canopic Jar Open the bars ahead of you and walk back to the blue teleport. Walk through to get back to the Ancient Wheel of Time. Press the blue button on the wall to turn the wheel to the Constellation of Hippopotamus. Shoot the beetle button on your right to open a secret passage and follow it back to the teleport leading to the modern Temple of Nefertum. Return through the ruins to the teleport leading to the Temple of Horus. Walk through the red teleport on your right that leads to the Pyramid of Anubis. Head through the scarab door, down the hall and through the double doors. Head down the left hall and open the door with the hieroglyphics on the left. Walk up to the bars on the right. Proceed up to the stone block in the middle of the room to place the Rough Cut Gem on it. Press all four buttons around the room to cut it, turning it into the Serpent's Eye Gem. Walk back out to the hall and head left up to a door on the left, leading to the Serpent's Room. Walk down the steps and place the Eye on the pedestal, creating a bridge. Walk up to the serpent to awaken him, and do your best to destroy him - he's tough. Collect the Hapy Canopic Jar. Dark Pharoah's Staff Walk back into the hall and head right at the fountain with the snake statue, climbing back up the ramp. Jump across the three pillars on either side of the ramp to reach the balcony. When the wall breaks, follow the corridor to a large pillared area and a red carpet. The carpet is a trap, so avoid walking on it. Press the wall with the red handprint, then press the ankh button, which causes the Dark Pharoah's staff to appear back in the main room. Duamuteff Canopic Jar Creep up on the red carpet so that it drops away, but you are still on the ledge. Look down and find somewhere safe to jump, avoiding the spikes. Follow the hall, head up the ramp and walk through the exit on the left. Continue round to the right and open the hieroglyphic door. Next to the body in the corner is a false wall. Walk through it and climb the stairs. Press the bloody handprint and head down the ramp and through the double doors. Go up the slope of sand on the right of the coffin and climb the ledge above you. Of the three panels in front of you, press them in middle, left, right order. Drop down to the coffin and take the stairs. Continue along the hall to a beam stretching across a pit. Take the glyph and fall down onto a pit of spiders. There are two floor plates here, in the periphery of the room. Push barrels onto them, opening a doorway. Walk on and pass through the double doors. Walk up the Bust of Anubis in the pillar of light to place the staff. Walk up the new ramp on the other side of the bust and open the door ahead of you. Take the Duamuteff Canopic Jar on the left. Pharoah's Key Approach the bars behind you to open them. Pass through another fake wall and retrace your route to the Temple of Horus teleport. Take another teleport to the Palace of the Pharoah on your right. Take the grey tube on your right again and walk forwards through the water and open the door with the bird on it. Swim left of the two statues and break the cracked wall. Swim along the tunnel and take the first right. Walk up the ramp and open the red wall ahead of you. Drop down and climb the steps out of the water to the left. Step on a floor plate to open a section of the ceiling. Drop into the water on the right and swim back through the underwater tunnel, but heading straight ahead at all times. Step through the teleport, walk up the stairs and follow the hall to a room with a ramp on the right. Smash the bust of Anubis to get to a secret room containing various power-ups. Walk up the ramp and come to a room, a locked door on the left and an open door on the right. Follow the open door to a throne room. Press the switch on the back of the pillar on the left of the throne, which makes the throne slide back. Drop down into the room to get the Pharoah's Key. Qebhsenuef Canopic Jar Walk back into the throne room and to the room with the locked door. Unlock it and enter the Pharoah's bedroom. Shoot the scarab on the left of the bathtub to reveal a secret passage. Walk into the burial chamber of the Dark Pharoah. Walk through the doorway on the left and climb the ramps. The Qebhsenuef Canopic Jar is at the top. Key of Ra Head down the ramps to the burial chamber and place all four jars on the pedestals. Jump on the boat to get to the next section. Climb up the steps and head through the red teleport to the Temple of Light. Follow the hall up the steps to a pit with a box in the centre. Drop down and follow the hall to a trench guarded by a Golem. Jump up the steps on the far right and throw the lever, opening two doors in the trench. Jump down, turn round and grab the Key of Ra from the right door. Lower Crown of Egypt Turn round and walk through the other door and a false wall. Walk upstairs, circle around the pit and follow the hall. Unlock the door and walk up to the sundial. Push the button until the time reads 12:00. Jump off the side of the platform and take the ramp down to a barred treasure room. As you approach the bars a door above opens. Walk back to the first pit with the box. One side of the box is open. Fall down it and collect the Lower Crown of Egypt. Staff of Nefertum Approach the bars and retrace your steps to the teleport leading to the Palace of the Pharoah. It's a long walk, but head back to the teleport leading to the Temple of Horus. Retrace your steps to the Chamber of the Sun (across that red bridge). Walk up to the door and collect the Staff of Nefertum. Upper Crown of Egypt Walk through the blue teleport and return to the room with three red teleports. Walk through the Temple of Nefertum teleport on the right. Take the route back to the current day Wheel of Time. Step on the wheel to place the Staff of Nefertum and reveal a button. Press the button until it reads Constellation of Isis. Collect the Upper Crown of Egypt. Return to the teleport leading to the Temple of Horus. Place the crowns on the pedestals to the left and right of the ankh on the floor of the room with the three red teleports. Drop down the lift to take on Pestilence. SEPTIMUS HUB The Roman Hub, home of War, the final horseman, is also the habitat of the deadly Medusa. The Temple of Mars offers gifts for each puzzle you solve, which can be collected just before the showdown. Many clues are dotted around, and make essential reading. The Power Crystal Starting in the Hall of Heroes, head forwards to steps leading into a shallow pool. Take the left exit and then turn right down more steps. Walk into the room with the long pool and a catwalk overhead. Turn left along the length of the room and take the hall on the left down another set of steps. Grab the Crystal in the room with the red carpet and a Medusa. There's a cracked wall on the left, which if smashed reveals a button for an artefact in the Temple of Mars. Retrace your steps to the shallow pool, but go straight past the steps that lead down to it. You are up on the catwalk now. Follow the catwalk round to a room with a gold teleport. Go up the steps and to a hedge maze. Take every left to get to the bottom left corner. Kill Medusa and press the button, opening doors back by the shallow pool. Near the opposite corner of the maze, towards the back wall is a fake part of the hedge that you can walk through. Press a button there for a Temple of Mars present. Head back through the maze to the gold teleport. Walk across the shallow pool to the opposite side and through the recently opened doors. Follow the passage to some stained glass and a pedestal. Walk up to the pedestal to place the crystal there. When the crystal has been powered up (becoming, strangely, The Power Crystal), jump up and collect it. The Silver Bar Smash the window in front of you, jump through and down to the yard. Head through the ornate arch directly in front of you and take the stairs down to the right. In the room containing a large machine, walk up to the shelf to place the Power Crystal. Press the button to activate the machine, which rotates a bridge above your head. Walk out of the room and head straight back to the room, but at the level of the bridge. Cross the bridge to the other side and hit the button on your right. Quickly run back to the bridge, standing halfway along it as it rotates. Either in front or behind you will be a narrow hall. Take it to a door leading to the Forum of Zeus. Head forwards and right to a ledge overlooking a pool. Jump in, swim forward and to the right to an underwater passage. Swim up, climb out and press the button. Climb the other stairs and press the second button, completing the sequence. Walk back to the pool and take the lift up. Walk across the foot plate to rotate the bridge, drop down to it, turn round and take the corridor ahead. Follow the hall in either direction to overlook a courtyard with a fountain and the dreaded Medusa. Carefully walk through the window to a narrow ledge around the perimeter of the courtyard. Walk round the ledge to a cracked wall and smash it, pressing the button for a Mars pressie. Drop down to the courtyard, and leave through the hall on the left (when facing the fountain). Walk up to the darker wall to the left or right to shove it. When you get to a room with rising steps, hit the button on the wall. Take the stairs down again and head to the right until you reach a room with three buttons and a message challenging you to Choose Your Fate. Hit the button on the left, turn round and head right to a room with three power-ups on ledges. Take the stairs to the left to get the Mystic Urn. Walk back to the room with the pool, dive in and take the lift up. Cross over the platform on the left. Follow the hall to a room with many pillars and forwards past the lightning blast to a room with six lenses. Align the lenses in the centre by pressing the floor plates. Go back to the lightning strike and take the narrow stairs to the right. Walk around the catwalk and through the narrow hall on the other side so that you are above the six lenses. Step on the button to open a door leading to Zeus' Throne Room. You must be penitent when you approach the throne, and just like in Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade, this means crouching. Collect the Silver Bar. The Gold Bar Exit the throne room (still crouching) and head back to the door leading to the Hall of Heroes. Walk back to the hedge maze and find an exit on the left-hand wall. Take the exit to the Gardens of Athena. Walk forwards to the room with a pool in it. Jump into the pool and break the cracked wall. Follow the tunnel to a button and press it to drop a pillar in the next room. Step out of the pool and head up the stairs. Follow the hall to a catwalk over a courtyard. Drop down to the pool on the left and press a button for a Mars power-up. Step out of the pool and hit the button on the left wall, activating a lift. Take it back to the catwalk and take the hall on the left to a room with a button. Press this to open the house in the courtyard. Walk back there and drop down, entering the house. Follow the hall up some stairs and round to a second courtyard and a Mystic Urn. Head forwards, following the hall to the left to a mural on the wall. Keep ahead, up some stairs and into a room with a Tomb of Power and a button. Press it. Return to the mural and pass through the door opposite it. Follow the hall round to a temple. Walk in and look up. Shoot the button in the ceiling to get a Stone of Summoning. Exit the temple and jump onto the ledge on the right-hand side, hitting the button at the end. Jump down and take the lift to the upper ledge. Walk around it and press the button at the end, summoning Skull Wizards but opening a door behind you. Walk through it and follow the hall to another catwalk. Walk through the doorway between the left pillars and follow the hall around to a room with the Gold Bar and an Imp ambush. Wait outside the room and fire at the top of the stairs at the cracked step. Enter the room and avoid waking the Imps by not firing. Step on the floor plate to get the Gold Bar. The Diamond Sceptre Press the button behind the Statue of Athena for a gift at the Temple of Mars. Drop down into the courtyard and pass through a narrow hall in front of you, through the second courtyard and back to the door leading to the Hall of Heroes. Follow the hall to the hedge maze and go to the exit on the opposite wall. Follow the hall round to the exit on the opposite side of the building. Head down the hall to the door to the Reflecting Pool. Take the hall and dive into the pool. Climb out at the hall leading to an outside area with a big temple. Place the gold and silver bars on the shelves either side of the temple door. Pass through when it opens. Walk down the corridor, down a flight of stairs to a bridge over a pool. Go across the bridge and up the stairs to a room with a door leading to the Baths of Demetrius. Walk forwards into the first room and to the alcove on the left. Take the stairs and pass through the archway to a room with a Skull Wizard and grates over lava. Walk down the stairs to a room with a long bridge. There are four buttons running the length of the bridge, with symbols representing fire, steam, water and air. Press them in this order to collect the Diamond Sceptre at the end of the bridge. The Crown of Kings Jump down to the three Roman numerals below you, based in different corridors. Below each numeral is a triangle that can be rotated clockwise by walking into it. Past the III corridor is a room with a pool. On the other side of the pool is a sign showing the correct alignment of the Roman numerals. Turn the triangles to these positions. Return to the room with the pool and step on the floor plate, releasing floating barrels that can be jumped across to hit a button, opening an archway to the left. Swim through the archway and up some stairs to the left. Go through the doorway on the opposite side of the room and keep following the stairs to an intersection. Head right to a pool with a platform in the centre. Dive into the pool and take the underwater passage to your right. Swim up to a button on the wall. Press it to get a Mars prize. Open the door, walk through and follow the hall to some power-ups. Return to the pool and walk through the exit on the opposite wall. Head right to a room with stairs and a Medusa. To the upper right is a window that you must jump to, which leads to the Crown. Jump there by jumping up the fountain on your right, climbing up the stairs on the left or by using one of the cheats mentioned earlier. The Sunstone Go through the door and return to the door that claims to lead to the Hall of Heroes but actually heads to the Reflecting Pool. Return to the stone bridge over a pool and dive in. Take the underwater passage beneath the bridge and climb out of the water. Take the lift and hit the button on the left. This lowers another bridge in front of you, so jump down, head straight and take a right and another right up some stairs. Follow the hall to a newly lowered bridge. Cross it and follow the hall to two pedestals. Place the Staff and Crown on the pedestals to open the door ahead of you. Enter the door to the Temple of Mars. Follow the hall to a large open area. Go through the door to the left, down the steps and into a room with lightning surrounding a Tomb of Power. Run through the lightning and onto the floor plate. This lowers a lift which takes you up to a catwalk. Press the button on the opposite wall and head down the hall to the left into an alcove overlooking swinging blades. Press the button by you. Go back across the catwalk, through the opposite hall and to a Skull Wizard Lord. Kill him and collect the Sunstone from the altar. The Shadowstone Return to the outside area and take the opposite door. Take the stairs down to a large room. Take the stairs up and press the button on the wall, opening doors in the opposite wall. Take the left door to collect the Mars goodies. Head back and take the door on the right. Walk up stairs on the right and to another Skull Wizard Lord. Defeat him to collect the Shadowstone. The Voidstone Go back out of the room and up to the alcove on the right. Press a button to get a path past the blades. Follow the wall to the left to get past them. Head through the doorway to a balcony overlooking a courtyard and a statue of Mars. Jump down and take the passage under the balcony to a final Skull Wizard Lord. Defeat him to collect the Voidstone. Return to the statue of Mars and take the hall either to the left or right to a second courtyard and three pedestals. Place each of the stones on their pedestals to open the centre stone. Jump down to face War.
