Tomb Raider, Unfinished Business
Conventions
Throughout this guide certain standard actions and elements about Tomb Raider are referred
to time and again. It is assumed that you have a grasp of the Tomb Raider controls and can
perform these, but here is a quick recap.
Squares - Tomb Raider levels are made up of single square sections,
sometimes they are referred to when explaining locations or tricky manoeuvres
Walk/Edge - Use the walk key to edge up to the end of ledges, or walk
through spikes unhurt
Ledge/Block/Column - Anything you can pull yourself up onto is normally
refereed to as one of these
Standing Jump - Press the jump and forward key to make a single square
leap forward
Jump and Grab - Press the jump key and then hold the Action key to grab
onto a ledge
Running Jump - Take a normal pace backwards, then press forwards and
almost straight after jump to leap two squares forward
Run, Jump and Grab - This combines the running jump described above with
a grab for a distant ledge. This allows you to cover three squares, but only just. Always
double check using the look key, look before you leap.
Return to Egypt
She can't get enough of it, so Lara has decided to revisit the City of Khamoon
If you are playing Tomb Raider for the first time, have bought the special edition version
or tomb Raider or got hold of the expansion file the new set of tomb Raider levels have
plenty of new tricks and traps in store for even the most experienced of Lara's partners.
For past masters the first extra level of Unfinished should be somewhat familiar, if not a
little wetter.
This level adds to the original Khamoon level though the new dampened
conditions alter it rather dramatically. After dropping through the trap doors you need to
back up and take a running rump across the open trap doors, to where the 'cats eyes' have
just lit up.
Once over there scramble up the slope into one of the eyes where the
statues are held. On the right side is a heath pack, so pick that up. If you then climb up
to the left moggy you get a quick glimpse of a chamber you will visit later.
All done here, jump out and get ready to jump down into the pool of
water below. As soon as you do swim straight-ahead and climb up onto the ledge ahead. Spin
around, pull your guns out and shoot away at the alligator that was creeping up behind
you.
Once that is done turn around to face the ledge running along the pool
opposite with a couple of items on it. Jump into the pool and as quick as you can climb up
onto it, why? Another alligator appears from a submerged tunnel at the end of the room.
Kill the vial beast, pick up the goodies and once more jump into the water. Swim towards
the submerged room, as you enter it another alligator will attack, so breast stroke it out
of there as quick as you can and climb out. Once you kill the creature get back in the
underwater cavern, grab the shells and head over to where you first dropped into the room.
You should see a pillar sticking up out of the water, make your way
over there. At the base of the pillar, under the bits sticking out, are a couple of clips.
Grab them and haul your buxom carcass out on the ledge next to the pillar. You now need to
take a running jump at the pillar, mid-air hold the action key to grab on and pull
yourself up onto the pilllar.
As you do a cut shot will show an underwater door opening, before
bothering with that pick up the magnum clips. Allrighty, perform the leap-grab onto the
pillar and jump straight ahead into the water. Swim forward and right, down into the
secret door that has opened.
Guess what? The chamber is inhabited by a alligator, so as soon as you
make it to the end of the passage turn around, swim back down the passage, to the right
and climb onto the ledge. Finish the gator, return to the passage and pick up all the
stuff at the end, a breathing space is provided so no need to worry on that count.
Swim back to the main room, but we're not quite finished here yet. Swim
up to the Sphinx and climb up its side, shimmer along it and pull yourself up to the back
half of it. Pick up the shells. You now need to make your way back to the pillar that had
the two clips under it.
Climb up onto the ledge and you should see two windows. Have a good
look through and you should see into a room with at least one panther prowling around
init. Lock on the beast and kill it, watch out for it strolling around to the fencing on
your left. If you can, kill both, but one will suffice.
Once you have done that little task jump back in the water and go in
the passage to your right. Swim on and once you enter the big chamber, head right a little
for the pillar you can see. Swim over the shell and pull yourself out of the water. Whip
around and pull your guns out, kill the alligator.
Get the shell and climb back up. Make your way around to where the cat
stature is. Look into the pool and spot the lever, when you have jump in and pull it. This
opens a door close to where you should have got out of the main pool, but ignore it for
now. Climb out at the slope opposite the cat statue while pressing the action key, to
backflip onto the statue's pillar. Face the main pool and jump onto the ledge in front of
your. Whip out your shooters and kill the three prowling panthers.
All you have to do now is swim over directly to your left and climb up.
This is the room your were sneaking a look into before. So depending on how many cats you
killed before you may or may not have to be on your toes. Anyway, mop up any leftover cats
and grab the shells and med-kit before heading out the entrance on the right from where
you came in. Just to the left on the floor is a shotgun and a box of shells. Grab them and
head back over to the opposite side of the cavern, where the door opened.
As you walk in the door you enter a small chamber with four columns,
pass through to the entrance of the second, straight ahead. Draw your guns, you may want
to use the shotgun, and face the first room. Back up into the second chamber and a panther
will enter the first running towards you, so kill it.
Turn around and walk up to the entrance of the third. This has a number
of spike traps. So walk up to the edge of the door and side step to the left. Do a
standing jump to the pillar on the left, walk to edge, turn round and drop off pressing
action to grab the edge. Drop down to the floor. Turn to the spike trap to your right and
WALK through them.
You are now at a T-junction, take the right branch and pull yourself up
the ledge you come to. Walk to the edge and jump over to the second ledge over a spike
trap. A third ledge is to your right and you need to jump over to it. Drop down onto a
ledge below and jump across yet another set of spike. A door opens above, so pull yourself
up and enter the secret room.
Collect the goodies lying around and head towards the door opposite
where you came in and it will automatically open. This leads back into the third chamber.
Walk up to the edge and side step the right. Jump back once and take a running jump angled
slightly to the right. You should land safely on the second pillar on the right. Jump back
pressing action to grab the edge of the column and drop to the ground.
Again walk through the spikes to the T-junction but head left. As you
run along and round the passage, you should see a ridge in front of you with a couple of
blocks the other side of it. Head down the passage to the right, a cat statue on top of a
wall will spring into life. Forget about this cat for now, turn around and head over the
ridge.
Start to walk through the large group of spike, half way through a
panther will appear, don't panic. Walk to the higher ground to your right, there are some
shells there, and kill panther. Grab the shell and continue to where the panther first
appeared.
Walk into the little passage and pick up the shells, when the passage
turns to the right run straight ahead into the alcove to avoid a falling boulder. Turn
around and jump over the right side of the boulder and pull yourself up, to the side with
the railings. The other side leads to the prowling panther statue.
Climb up the terraces and drop down onto some shells, pick them up and
dispatch the panther below. Climb back up and turn around. You need to make a running jump
out of the alcove and grab hold of a ledge hanging perilously over the chamber. So save
the game first.
Once you have made the jump and pulled yourself up, walk forward onto
the next section. Turn to the left and stand with your back to the wall. You need to make
a running jump over the ridge to a flat section on the other side. This is a little tricky
so save the game. You are best jumping over the right side of the ledge.
When you make it turn to your right to face the secret ledge, take a
running rump to land on the box of shells. Hang off the edge of the ledge and drop down
onto the slopping cliff face below to safely slide off on to the floor.
Head back to the two blocks, pull the first back towards the spikes,
walk round to the other and push it forwards twice. Enter the new water filled cavern and
take out the cat on the other side. There is a small island to your right as soon as you
jump onto it another panther appears. So line yourself up with the central pillar, jump
across and pull yourself straight up onto it. From here you can safely shoot the big cat.
Opposite to where you came in are some magnum clips at the bottom of
the water filled cavern. As you enter the water two alligators will appear so, get out of
the water and dispatch them before you get the clips.
Make your way over to the opposite side of the cavern, and jump into
the water under the central bridge. Under here is a gap in the wall, swim into this
sticking over to the left side. You will come to a passage running to the right, go down
it and follow it round to the right. Finally you will enter a new room, break the water
and pull yourself up on either the left or right side. Do not walk forwards, but turn
around and you should see an alligator sneaking up on your in the water, kill it.
As soon as you move forward two alligators will attack from the two
gaps at the other side of the room. So make a run for the ledge opposite and climb up,
giving you a safe place to attack from. Once you have taken care of the big lizards, walk
over to the small medi-kit, before you pick it up face the alter. As you pick it up two
more gators will run into the room, so again jump onto the alter and take care of them.
You have now finished in here so swim back out into the main cavern.
Make you way back up onto dry land. Use either the land above the magnum clips or by the
middle of the central bridge. Before finishing here go around the where the first panther
was and enter the little cave. Grab the small medi-kit, come out and follow the bridges
around the cavern.
Jump and grab to pull yourself up the high ledge on your right, get
your guns ready and walk into the room, kill the alligator that appears. Turn around and
walk up to the edge of the ledge. Jump over to the left ledge, turn around and jump over
to the ledge on the opposite side.
Turn to the left and climb up the ledge there. On your right a long
slope disappears into the darkness, do not go down there. It ends up at the back of the
alligator lair, where two more of the beasts await you and with no reward for your
trouble, it makes little sense to venture down there.
So climb up to your left and drop down to get the medi-kit. Drop down
to where the third bridge ends and jump/grab to haul yourself to where you killed the
gator in the small cave. To the right of the entrance is a gap that allows you to look
into the main cavern below, turn around and drop off, grabbing the edge. Shimmy right over
to the far right, climb up and get the box of shells.
Turn around to face a cat statue. Jump over to it and enter the room,
where you find a locked door. Use the gold key to open it. As you enter the room three
large boulders will roll towards you, head ever so slightly to the right to let them roll
safely by. Head to the right ramp and drop down on the right side of it into a little
alcove with a box of shells in it, ignore the prowling panthers for now.
Climb back up to the main room and head over to the left ramp. Drop
down onto the ledge on the left of the ramp, drop down again to the block on the left.
From here take care of the two cats roaming around. Jump off and head down the passage to
the left, follow it around till you come to a switch. Pull the switch to open the big
doors in the main room, head back to the panther's lair.
As you re-enter the room to your left is a block and two small
entrances. As soon as you go into either a panther will attack. So facing the block
opposite the first entrance, back into the doorway facing the block. As soon as you see
the cat appear, leg it for the block and haul yourself up. Kill the cat, and get the
awaiting medi-kits.
Make your way to the other side of the room, head for the passage on
the right. Get ready for some big cat action, so draw either the shotgun or Magnums. As
you turn the corner a cat statue comes to life, so shoot it. Continue round to the left
past where the statue was into a room with a medi-kit. Pick this up and head back to where
the statue was.
Climb up and follow a dark passage to your left, it's perfectly safe,
at the end are some magnum clips and a box of shells. That's everything done down here so
go back to where you first dropped down and get your dainty arse back up them blocks. Walk
up to the start of the middle ramp. If you simply run up the ramp about half way a couple
of boulders will crash down and squish you.
There are two ways around this the safe way is to drop off and grab the
side of the ramp and shimmy up past the two gold lines. The flash way is to leg it up the
ramp and as the boulders drop down jump over to the left or right side ramp. Either way
once you have got to the top, dispose of the panther before heading through the big doors.
In the room you have a number of bridges over a bit spike pit, so save
the game. Do a standing jump onto the first bridge, then a running jump onto the second.
Through to the left is a large pit full of water. Jump over this to get a medi-kit, then
jump back to the bridge. A final running jump to the end of the spike pit will allow you
to collect a couple of boxes of shells and another medi-kit.
With all this secure get ready to drop into the pool of water. Before
you do you should know there are two alligators down there. So you had better read all
this before continuing. When you drop down spot the water filled exit to swim through in
one corner of the room. Swim along this and up, stick to the left wall and follow the room
round past a pillar where there should be a switch straight-ahead. Action the switch and
get through the door pronto, as the gators will be right on your tail.
Swim straight-ahead and up, and get out of the pool. Immediately pull
out your shotgun and kill the panther that attacks you straight away, two shots does the
trick, now relax. Get your pistols out and finish the alligators. You may have to take a
dip to lure them out, once you have pop back in the water filled room to get a box of
shells, then get back on dry land.
If you got straight out of the pool and have it to your back, round to
the right is a largish alcove with some ammo in it. As you approach two boulders fall from
the right half, so run to the left side of the room, to claim your booty.
Leave the alcove and head over to the fenced in spikes. As you enter a
panther attacks from around the rocky outcrop so have your shotgun or magnums at the
ready. Once dispatched head over to the box of shells. As you do another panther will
enter behind you so watch your back, once it is dead get the other box of shells and head
off back round the fencing to a block on the other side of the pool.
Climb up on the block and you should see the exit to the level. Drop
down into the gully with your favourite weapon drawn. As you reach the end of the gully
the front two cat statues will spring to life. Start shooting and get ready to back down
the gully till they are both dead.
Before you cross the bridge go over to the right side, you should find
a path down to a pool under it. Shoot the alligator that is swimming around and jump in to
get a small medi-kit at the bottom. Climb out and cross the bridge to end the level.
Temple of the Cat
Onto the second level of Unfinished Business that continues where Return to Egypt
finished
All right first things first, turn around and pull the switch that opens the trap door.
Drop down into the safe area below. Make sure you collect the two magnum clips on the two
opposite shelves. At this point of the game that should add up to a lot of magnum clips
you have rattling around your backpack. Head up the passage a little way, ignore the mummy
monster to the left and head into the alcove on your right, by climbing over the small
wall in the way.
In here are three closed gratings. Open them by using the switch, but
why is the mummy not doing anything? Grab the pack on the right first then head to the
other medi-kit alcove. As soon as you pick it up the mummy attacks. My personal presence
is run and jump out over the blue wall. You can then pick it off at your leisure using you
basic pistols.
When it is dead climb back in the alcove and pull the switch a second
time, this opens the secret door where you entered the level. So climb out and head off to
your left. Stand in the doorway and using your pistols you can again pick off the mummy
that is roaming around with no problem.
Once dispatched, jump down and head off up the passage, as you turn the
corner round to the right. Stop and pull out your shotgun, start to back up the passage
facing the way you came. As you near the end of the passage two panthers will chase after
you, so do the pump action thing and get rid of the problem. Pick up the magnum clips and
head back the way you came.
Run past the alcove and round the corner till you get to the end. Climb
up out into the open air, feel that wind rushing through your hair. No wonder Lara bought
a woolly jacket for her next adventure.
Follow the path to where it turns a sharp left, to the right is a gap
you can jump over. There you will find a couple of shell boxes. Pick them up and jump out.
A little further down the path is a block, run down the path and climb onto the block. A
couple of mummies will attack you as you do. Kill them and relax.
Over to the left is a large open expanse surrounded by hills with
boulders on top. Head over there and you should see a box of shells, pick it up with no
problems. On the far side to where you are, are two more boxes. Each time you try to pick
these up you trigger a boulder, so get ready to make a back flip out the way. A final box
is stored in the far left corner and should present little problems in retrieving.
Anyway, head towards the Inca style temple and climb to the top. Along
the way pick up a box of shells and a small medi-kit. If you climb up the left side of the
cat statue over looking the scene a couple of panthers will appear but these are easily
picked off from the higher tiers.
Now for a secret, just underneath the cat statue that over looks the
landscape at the top of the temple you should find two blocks that have handles attached.
Drag one out and push it to the side. Move the inner one out of the way to reveal a gap
you can jump down, make sure you grab hold of an edge before you do to avoid injury.
Once down make your way over to the other side of the room and pick up
the pack and thrown the switch. Go through the door and straight ahead you will find a key
on the floor, pick it up. Walk around the chamber and climb up onto the ledge, jump over
to the other side to get the box of shells before you drop down.
Make your way back around the temple find a single block on its own.
Push it towards the temple to find a box of shells. Turn around and follow the panther
tracks till you come to a pool.
Jump straight in and turn around to find a lever. Pull it and a door
opens at the other end of the pool, make for the door as quick as you can. Wait till the
alligator comes through then swim through. If the timing is right you will be left alone
in the pool.
Grab the key that is at the end of the room and head back to the
doorway that will reopen. You will probably have to swim under the approaching alligator,
head slightly to the right to find the spot where you have to drag yourself up out of the
water, near where you jumped in.
You now need to climb right to the top of the ziggurat, walk over to
the left side over hanging the pool. You should find a door with two keyholes either side.
Use the ornate keys in both.
Enter the new room, walk round keeping to the right side. When you get
to a vine covered passage pull out your big guns, as when you get to the end a panther
jumps out on you. Kill it and enter the room with two large open doors to get a medi-kit.
Exit the room and go back to the entrance to the switch that was left
of the double doors you originally entered, pull it and come back. The doors to the
medi-pack room have closed. Continue round to the right and find a vine-covered switch.
Pull this to open the trap door in the room behind you.
Go into that room and drop through the trap door. You will find
yourself standing on a pedestal in the middle of a new room. Two passageways can be found
in opposite corners and four additional holes in the floor lead to a water filled room
below.
There is a cat wandering around in this lower chamber so you may want
to dispatch it before continuing around one of the two passages. They both lead to the
same place. You will come to a passage with three holes in the floor and two switches.
You need to pull both switches in order to open a set of large doors
currently blocking your exit in the water cavern below. You need to pull both fairly
quickly, but this is easily done a couple of standing jumps over the three holes.
Drop down and swim for the now open doors. Two alligators patrol the
pool you are entering, so you need to find a way onto dry land as soon as possible. As you
swim into the new room you have three choices. The first spot is in the far-left corner of
the pool, the second is in the near right side of the square pool. A final choice is the
room directly above as you swim into the room that can only be accessed from underwater.
Once you have got onto dry land dispatch the gators and you can get
down to business. You need to collect five keys dotted around various points in this room.
The first is in the room only accessible from the underwater entrance. Dive into the pool
and swim for the doors, look up as the tunnel ceiling passes overhead and you should see a
gap. Climb up here, the key is in-front of the cat statue and two medi-kits are located at
either end of the chamber.
Return to the main room, four more keys to go. One can be found on the
lowest tier near the movable block. As you get it a panther will appear so have you
magnums ready, while you are here push the block forwards to reveal a magnum clip.
The second is on the third tier over on the other side of the room,
again a panther will appear. Drop down a tier to avoid it, and make picking it off
somewhat easier.
The final two can be found on the chamber overhanging the water. Climb
to the top tier and jump onto it. As you do two more panthers will appear prowling the top
of the terrace. The will not wander down to where you are so pick them off at your
leisure.
Now you have all five keys climb up to the top and make your way round
to the five locks. Use all your keys in each lock, this opens the locked door to your left
at the end of the room. Make your way there.
Once in there is a large pit in front of you, walk to the edge and have
a gander. You need to first lower yourself down to the middle section via the pillar in
the right corner. While you are here jump over to the two alcoves to collect a box of
shells and a medi-kit. Jump back to the middle section.
Stand facing the set of two spikes, you need to make a running jump
over these to the ledge beyond. When you have turn to your right and climb onto the slope.
Enter the passage to the right, in the middle of which you will find a ledge to the right
that houses a switch.
Climb up, pull the switch and carry on around the passage. You will
come out over looking the other spike pit, with a slope in front of it. You can either
jump over onto the middle platform, or slide down the slope and make a easy jump to the
facing alcove.
Either way you have finished here so climb out of the pit and continue
through the newly opened doorway. In this room you find a single hole in the floor leading
to a large set of water filled rooms. Stand in front of the hole with the open door to
your left. Jump in and swim down and forward through the gap. In this room is a uzi clip
and a breathing space above, you will now be attacked by an annoyingly difficult to kill
alligator.
You can try to avoid it or swim back out and try to pick it off, which
is quite tricky. If you do, use your shotgun or magnums to make a quick job of it. Anyway
in the uzi room with your back to where you came in, in the right corner is a hole, swim
through this, around to the left is an uzi clip. While following the passage round to the
right leads to a switch on the left wall. Pulling this opens the final doorway.
Head back out, and enter the next room. Have your shotgun or magnums on
standby. As you approach the large double doors two mummies will burst through and attack.
Finish them off and enter the next room.
Run straight across, to find two switches. Pull both to move the
boulder blocking your exit, and the final doorway in the five-lock room swings open.
Run down the boulder corridor and drop down the hole at the end to land
in the pool. Climb out and make your way over to the new doorway opposite the other opened
earlier.
Here we have a room with eight mummies, currently dormant. Before doing
anything else pick up the four uzi clips and medi-kit in the corner. Then make your way
down to the earth filled end room. As you make your way around this more and more of the
mummies will spring to life, so get ready with your shotgun that seems particularly
effective against mummies.
To the right side of the room is a switch, pull this to open your exit
and active two of the mummies. Quickly turn and run to the ramp to catch them running down
the slope. Re-enter the room and go around collecting the goodies from each corner, each
time checking for approaching mummies.
Once done head back up the ramp to the new exit on the right. As you do
notice there is one mummy left. Enter the new room and go out through the doorway on the
right, climb up the big set of stairs. As you near the end turn around and draw your best
weapon as the final mummy should barrel through the door at some point.
Once it's dead walk up to the edge of this platform, long way down hey?
At the two corners are raised platforms, so walk off the corner to land on one. You need
to make a running jump onto the platform opposite with the uzi clips.
Grab these and climb down the right side, which has no spikes at the
bottom. Do not approach the white hot floor area or you will get toasted. Turn to the
secret room on your right. Collect the uzi clip and medi-kit.
A ramp runs up the back of the room, as you walk up it a boulder starts
to approach so run off to the left. Again start up the ramp but this time about half way
up another boulder falls down, but an alcove is provided again to your left.
Once past this an exit is at the top of the ramp, enter this and draw
your guns. Kill the panther and pull yourself up onto the ledge to get a box of shells and
another medi-kit. Run down the corridor to re-enter at the base of the big staircase.
Make your way back up to the top, this time make sure you drop off onto
the ledge on the right side, now drop down to the ledge off to the right. Edge to the
front and make a standing jump to the column opposite. Make another to the block over on
the left.
Look up and see the ridge above, jump up and grab hold of it. Edge
across the chamber till you can pull yourself up. Climb up to your right and enter the
room past the cat statue. Pull the switch within.
Turn to exit and cross the bridge that has mysteriously appeared and
head off down the steps. Enter the room at the bottom and go through the new exit on the
right.
This takes you into an oasis area follow the vine covered path and draw
your weapon. As you turn a left corner an alligator will attack, so kill it. Make sure you
collect the medi-kit off to the right.
Continue into the chamber till you find a pool of water, kill the gator
that is swimming around then jump in. Pull the switch to open two trap doors in the first
room. As you climb out of the pool you will find a panther waiting to welcome you. So have
your uzis prepared to thank it for the warm reception.
Go back to the start of the oasis, and climb up into one of the trap
doors, follow the passage round. Walk over the door in the floor and climb up on the stone
tablet, releasing the door.
Drop through and collect the medi-kit and box of shells. You have now
come into a long passage that has three pairs of switches, each with a door in-between.
You can continue on by entering either the first or third set, but to collect the final
secret do the following.
Pull the second set of switches, this opens the door. Run in and
immediately spin round and run out. Head right down the corridor, through the door at the
very end.
Now its time to get Lara moaning and a groaning with some serious block
shifting. To start push the block in front of you forwards and to the right, this reveals
the switch that opens the door. Forget about this for now. Drag the second block back one
space and then into the entrance of the door.
Go into the next chamber and push the third block forward a space
against the wall, pull it right once then from the other side right into the corner of the
room. Now for block number four, pull it back two spaces then two spaces into the first
chamber.
The fifth block needs to be pulled right one space and back three, into
the second chamber. Then shove it right where block three use to be. Get back into the
third chamber to move the last block out of the way, by pulling it back two spaces. Run
around it to claim your prize, but we're not finished yet.
Back to chamber two and push block five back into chamber three, then
drag block four back out of the way so you can get back to chamber one. Move the first
block to the corner and then the second next to it, phew. Pull the switch and leg it out
the door.
Onto the final stage of the level, both first and third chambers lead
to the same room, but you are best using the one you are nearest to. At the base of the
next large open air room are three mummies, so have your shotgun ready.
Make your way around to the back of the large statue, using the blocks
dotted around to aid in providing high ground to attack any mummies from. Once at the back
go up the stairs and push the block forward two spaces, get the medi-kit.
Now go round the stairs and pull yourself up onto the ledge. Outside of
the doorway is a ledge you need to make a running jump and grab onto the ledge. Lift
yourself up and head off to the left, get your guns ready to polish off two more mummies
as you run around the outside of the room.
You enter a long chamber, make your way to the end, before climbing up
get the Uzi clip on the floor and drag yourself up the blocks till you are outside. You
should see a panther in the statue's mouth so kill it, this saves killing it later.
You need to jump from column to column, using the alcove at the far
corner when you get there. Down the far side of the room you come to a higher column, this
requires a running, jump and grab. Then lift yourself up onto the roof.
Whip out your Uzis and get ready to greet a mummy with a hail of hot
lead. Head off down the walkway that runs down the right side of the rooms and climb onto
the gold block you find at the end. You probably want to save the game here.
You need to run and jump onto the block just under the statue's eye, if
you are afraid of heights it's too late to turn back now. Once you make it drag yourself
up on top of the eye and whip out your guns once more to kill another mummy. Go to the
back of the statue and pull the switch.
This has extended the statue's tongue, turn around and run all the way
off the end of the statue's nose landing on the tongue. Enter the mouth and jump over the
hole in the floor, pull the switch, jump back over the hole and head for the cat statue to
finish the level.
Atlantean Stronghold
From the dangers of vampire Egyptian mummies you are flung to the fiery depths
filled with demon monsters all after your hide
The start of the level finds you inexorably sliding into the entrance passage to the demon
stronghold, that is reverberating with the inhuman heart beat of the living walls.
Make you way to the end of the passage, the lava filled end is actually
not as inhospitable as it looks. Climb up the ledge and side step to the right and walk to
the edge, overlooking the bubbling lava. A high ledge is a run, jump and grab away. Enter
the small crevice to the left and pick up the boxes of shells lying around. Leave and jump
from the ledge back to the passage, and that's secret one complete.
Go through the natural archway to your left, this brings you out into a
large cavern. A see-through wall to the left lets you see a later part of the level, and
what you will have to take care of. Straight ahead of the entrance is a little crack in
the wall. You are hindered by a small lava pool, but stand against the wall and a standing
jump there and back makes light of retrieving the medi-kit.
Pull your magnums or shotgun out and head into the cavern, as you do a
demon jumps out from the left, so transform it into a personalised fire work display. Head
where the demon came from round to the left and grab the shells. Seem to be a lot of
shotgun shells, don't there? The shotgun is particularly effective against these demons,
and this level has plenty of shotgun ammo, so get pumping.
Turn around to face the square building in front of you. Walk to its
left side and pull yourself up into it and drop down to the ledge below and hold position.
Two flying demons have just decided to wake up, and are directly below you. Turn around
and wait till you can hear their beating wings and then pull yourself up, and run back to
the cavern.
Turn and dispatch both the flying demons. Return to the building's
ledge and lower yourself down to collect even more shotgun shells. Now turn to look out
over the ruined building. Before leaving there are a few things to collect.
A box of shells is on the ledge directly in front of your on the other
side of the room, while directly to your far right is a medi-kit and yet another box of
shells.
Get the far box of shells first, jump diagonally forward and to the
right. As you do a boulder trap is triggered behind you but run for the middle of the
cavern and it won't even get close. Head for the far side, be careful when you get there.
A gully runs down the side of the collapsed building and entering it
sets off another more deadly boulder trap. Make you way around the gully to the three red
columns that are in a row. Pull yourself up on the lowest one and retrieve the box of
shells, as you do another flying demon will appear so watch your step as you take it down.
Drop down and head over to the opposite corner, a demon is just waiting
to jump out as you collect the medi-kit and shells, so stay alert. Once you have them turn
around to face the collapsed building. A ramp leads up to the nearest square hole to you.
Run up this and drop down.
Face the new room you have entered, two medi-kits are begging to be
collected. Each is just a standing jump over the holes in front of them, but before you
do. When it comes to exiting the room you need to drop down the hole currently to your
right, the left one drops you to your death. Even the right one still takes half you
health so top that up before dropping through.
After your fall replenish your health before tackling this next room.
There are four pedestals at the corners of the room with pickups on each one. The trouble
is as you go around them a demon will appear.
Particularly nasty is the one right next to a demon pod, as you pick up
the shells via a cut scene you see a new demon enter, but stand still. Pick this demon off
from where you are, as soon as you leave the pedestal the pod explodes, giving you another
demon to deal with. Once you have everything, head for the door next to where you dropped
in.
As you run up the ramp you active a dart trap, unfortunately this is
where actually need to go. The best way is to side step along the corridor to the right
till you get to the spiral staircase leading down to a darkened corridor. Get your guns
out as another demon is begging to be sent to an early grave.
Follow the corridor to the end where it comes out to a largish chamber
with a staircase in the centre. There are also three inactive demons to the left with
items behind. Don't try to pick those up yet, as this activates each demon and leaves you
in a pickle. Make your way over to the other side next to the clear screen and pull the
switch.
This springs a demon centaur to life in the distant chamber, turn
around and head over to the stairs, pick up the shells and climb the stairs. At the top
you find five switches. The nearest two and the most distant one each activate one of the
demons below.
The best tactic is to pull a switch turn around shooting the demon, it
will try to make its way to the top of the stairs, if you have not managed to kill it,
simply drop down onto the stairs. As it runs back down you should finish it off. With all
three demons out the way, pull the final two switches at the top, collect the extra ammo
and leave the room via the corridor.
Halfway up the corridor a door has opened. In here are two demons and a
bunch of ammo. Halfway up the slope, drag yourself up onto the right ledge. The demons
cannot get you here and you can take your time picking them off, with even your basic
pistols.
Jump over the slope onto the opposite floor to tempt the demons over,
if they are not co-operating. Once done grab the uzi and magnum clips and shells then
leave for the spiral staircase.
Head back into the big square room that you fell into and cut across to
the right where the new doorway has opened. Get your guns out as a demon awaits you at the
top of the ramp. Finish it off and scramble onto the ramp at the top. Turn around and pull
yourself up, do two backflips onto the ledge behind and away from the advancing lava, very
flash.
Go up the left side of the chamber and as you reach the next chamber
get your guns out and shoot the evil, vile demon on your right. Make your way to the end,
grab the medi-kit and shells from the other side. Make you way back all the way around the
previous chamber to the top of the slope. Look to the right and jump into the gap there.
Make a dash around through the hail of blow pipe darts into a new large
pool room, where two demons live. So whip out your shotgun and dispose of the hellish
nuisance.
Now for secret two, as you entered the room dive into the pool and swim
towards the far submerged wall. Find and pull the two switches, this opens a door in the
lower left of the room, in the corner to be precise. Before entering take a breather and
then go in to find ammo and health. Before leaving the pool room scout around the bottom
of the pool for a box of shells and a medi-kit.
Climb out of the water and head out of the chamber to the left. You
enter a small room with a switch in the centre pull the switch but ignore the two opening
doors. Turn around and exit through the left door, in here are two switches one to the
left and another to your right. As you pull the left switch four demons are released.
Jump over to the stairs opposite and take your time dispatching the
monsters. You will have to jump between the staircase and the floor opposite to lure the
demons over, but apart from the odd fireball you should pick them off without any
problems.
Before leaving this pool room dive into the water, collect the shells
lying on the first level. Swim further down to find a switch, pull this to open a door at
the top of the stairs. Climb out of the water you now have a few things to do before
leaving through the door above.
First pull the second switch in this pool room. Go back into the small
switch room. The two doors that opened have boxes of shells, along with a demon in each
room. Get your guns ready and as you enter each room a demon will attack.
Finally enter the newly opened door from which the four demons attacked
you, find the switch and pull it. This opens a door to your right, go through and pick the
medi-kits up. Head back to the small pool room and climb the stairs.
You re-enter the large outside cavern from the start. A demon is going
to attack you from the other side of the cavern so have your guns ready. Once it is gone
from this world head over to the newly opened door left of where you entered.
Do not walk fully through the door, as you will simply fall down into
the pool below. First walk up to the edge of the door as a demon is lurking just to the
left, but it cannot get to you as it is stuck on a ledge. Pick off the demon and then drop
down.
Once in the water find the couple of magnum clips lying around, before
turning you attention to the switches that are next to each other. Pull the one on the
left, this opens a submerged door over to the left. Get in there and grab the shells and
uzi clip and then swim back out.
Time to get out of the water, to left of the switches is a ledge that
allows you to drag yourself out. Climb up to the left and pull the switch that you come
to, this opens a door above your current position. Turn to your left and perform a
jump/grab for the opposite ledge. Spin around and see a box of shells on a ledge to your
right, just run across to it and then jump back.
You need to now pull yourself up onto the ledge where the demon you
killed, before falling into the pool was standing. If you did not kill the demon it will
currently be pounding you with fireballs.
Once up, jump over to the medi-kit and jump back again. You should see
two doors the one to the right is the one you came in through, the one on the left you
opened just before with the switch. Carefully line yourself up with the doorway on the
left and make a standing jump over to it.
You find yourself at the top of a room with a floor covered in spikes,
so watch your step. The first move is a dangerous run and jump made diagonally left over
the pit of spikes, to a ledge slightly lower than your current position. Turn right around
and walk onto the slopping ledge, pull yourself onto the ledge on your left to retrieve a
medi-kit.
Climb back down and make a running jump over to the ledge with magnum
clips on it. Step off the ledge backwards and grab the edge, let go and quickly grasp the
crack just below. Shimmy to your right and drop down to get another magnum clip. Climb up
the next block.
You may want to skip over the next section as it only gains you a box
of shells, a magnum clip and a small medi-kit. Drop of the end of the block to the ledge
below and then drop into the only spot without spikes. Walk to the far-left corner of the
room to pull a switch.
This opens an underwater door, walk back collecting the medi-kit on the
way and jump in the water. Follow the tunnel round to appear back in the original chamber
with two switches. Swim back collecting the box of shells and magnum clips, if you missed
them first time.
Climb out of the water and walk over to the right and pull yourself up
onto the red patterned block. Pull yourself up to the block on your left, turn around to
face the slightly higher ledge opposite.
This is a tricky jump and grab, so save the game. Once you make it spin
around and make a running jump to the ledge opposite, you jump on it when originally
entering the room. Climb up onto the ledge to view the next room ahead.
Make a running jump over to the far side of the room, get your shotgun
out as you reach the middle of the room, as a demon jumps out from the left corner. Walk
over there to find some magnum shells, before you pick them up face the opposite wall. As
you pick them up another demon appears, so take care of it, before collecting the box of
shells.
Make a standing jump to the rock bridge running across the room and
climb up the end to enter a new tunnel. Jump over the two sections of lava and collect the
box of shells at the end of the tunnel.
Turn around and make your way a couple of squares down the tunnel, to
your upper right you should see a hole in the wall, climb up there. You are yet again in
the large cavern. Jump over to the largish ledge opposite.
Two flying demons will fly in around the right side of the cavern, so
have your guns ready to easily dispatch the beasts. Perform a running jump to the single
ledge with the magnum clips on and then jump back.
Almost done now, stand on the slightly raised section. Looking over to
the collapsed building you are going to make a running jump to that right hand hole.
Carefully line yourself up, right in the front corner of the raised square. Take a pace
backwards and perform a tasty running jump to slide down the hole.
After a rather long fall you land in a pool of water patrolled by the
centaur activated much earlier. Climb out and make your shotgun earn its keep. Once it is
dead head for the north wall to pull a switch and finish the level.
The Hive
The final level to Unfinished Business continues where the last left off, and
throws you into a hellish nightmare of demons and rivers of molten lava
The start of the level begins peacefully enough, collect the medi-kit and magnum clips
either side of the entrance. A couple of squares on grab the uzi clips from the currently
dormant demon guards. Take a glance at the following room, now what are all those
suspended boulders doing up there?
The next room is one huge boulder trap, there are a couple of ways to
do this. Walk to the top step as you do two warning boulders drop and roll harmlessly
across the room. The first way is this, any squares with the curved symbol are safe, this
includes the first two rows you are standing on. Using the look key, over to the right,
halfway down the room are two more blocks with symbols on.
Edge up to the far right of the front safe row, a running jump will
make it to the safe block over there, and one more takes you to the alcove. Personally I
think it is much more fun playing with the boulders, try the following.
We will take a path down the central set of tiles. As you step onto the
first trapped black square make a jump to the right and immediately jump back to the left.
Easy so far, walk onto the next white block, then the next black tile, ignore the falling
boulders.
The next white block is dangerous, so as you trigger the boulders make
a side jump to the right and when the coast is clear jump back left. You now need to make
a dash forwards then rush into either of the alcoves. Now what was hard about that then?
The two alcoves both contain switches, as you pull them the relative
demon at the other end of the room activates. So turn around pull your magnums out and
deal with the pesky things. Run around to the other alcove and do the same.
Make sure you run back down the middle row of tiles to avoid any
untriggered boulder traps. Enter the newly opened passageway on the right. Jump through
the metal jaws and turn right to pick up the two magnum clips. Jump back through the jaws
and run over to the other passageway.
Run past the darts and jump through the deadly jaws and stop at the
edge. Take a breather and save the game, the next bit is tricky. It consists of a number
of sloping cliffs that you must jump off.
Walk to the edge and take a couple of side steps to the right. What you
are going to do is jump forwards, slide down a little way and jump off this slope onto
another. Slide down this slope a little more and jump again, onto yet another slope. Jump
again and keep jumping between two opposite slopes, while doing this hold the right
direction key.
You will slowly make your way along the two slopes, at one point Lara
will land on a flat slab on the left side. You need to have stopped pressing the right key
at this point. The best thing to do is as you near the slab when you jump to the left
side, stop pressing right, but still hold the jump key and if Lara jumps straight up your
there. Otherwise do another right jump and try again.
Save the game as you don't want to do that again. Head over to the area
on the left and get your guns out, as another demon needs dispatching. At the end of this
gully, where the demon first appeared is a medi-kit. Pick it up, back at the start of the
gully is a flat ledge you can pull yourself up onto. As you do a flying demon pops up from
the pit in front of you, kill it.
Secret one starts right below, in that pit of lava. Lower yourself down
to the ledge below. Jump across the other ledge opposite, and drop down.
There are two ways to get to the medi-kit, either a tricky slide and
jump using the right slope. Or more simply make a running, jump and grab to pull yourself
up onto the ledge. Once you have the medi-kit do the same to get back.
Make your way out of the pit, taking the same route you use to get
down. Once back up on the outer edge of the pit turn to look at the large expanse of lava
running down the right side of the subterranean cavern.
Make a standing jump to the curved ledge to get a better look. By the
way a demon is behind you, it is stuck in the far left-hand corner and cannot get to you.
Pick it off from where you are.
Turn your attention to the job at hand. Make a jump onto the square
block in front of you, it has that curved symbol on it. From here you should be able to
see two uzi clips. Jump over to collect the first and take another set of standing jump to
reach the other.
Leap back to the symbol block, as you land on it a locked door at the
end opens. Make a running jump to the ledge that runs down the side of the room (see
screenshot). Run to the end and make a running jump and grab. Pull yourself up and run
through the door.
Do not worry about the demon pod just yet, it explodes at a much less
opportune moment a little later. Lower yourself down to the floor and follow the path
around. Climb up to the top and turn around.
You need to make a tricky jump onto the middle of the pulsating wall to
your right. As you do the two demon pods will be triggered so get ready to unleash your
firepower.
Stand with your back to the wall and use the look key to line yourself
up, then do the run and jump. You may find pressing the right key mid-air will help. The
two flying demons that now appear are unworthy adversaries, send their burning corpses to
the ground.
Another tricky jump is coming up. There is a large-ish exit to the room
in the right wall. You need to do a running jump past the cream column on the right, and
grab hold of the level part of the path that is sticking out. The angled part will not do,
as you will just plummet to your death.
Once you have pulled yourself up you will see a centaur at the top of
some stairs. It will not attack and you cannot shoot it, till you walk off the top step.
So climb up the stairs and get your guns ready. When it does attack just keep jumping side
to side whilst firing, it dies fairly quickly.
Lower yourself down the hole to collect an uzi clip, and head off down
the steep slope into a large water filled cavern.
As you drop in try and spot the water level ledge on the right. Turn
around and swim up to it, and get out of the water. Get your guns out and side-step a
couple of times to the right. A demon is patrolling above, take care of it from where you
are before climbing up.
Grab the magnum clips and make your way to the end of the island. You
should see a grotto slightly to the left inhabited by three demons that cannot harm you at
the moment. Do a running jump and grab onto the far ledge that runs around to the grotto.
Walk onto the slightly higher brown block and take your time picking
off the demons. Go in and climb to the back of the grotto, below are lots and lots of uzi
clips. So what are you waiting for go get them?
As you climb back out from the end two new demons are waiting for you.
These are a little more dangerous than their deceased cousins. So jump left and right
while you take care of them.
On the right hand side to the mouth of the grotto is another brown
block, climb onto this to collect a magnum clip and to get a clear shot at another demon
on the other side of the cavern.
Go back around and jump across to the starting island, head over to the
cream coloured structure. Go along the narrow ledge till Lara stops walking. Do a standing
jump to the next ledge up, another standing jump diagonally left allows you to climb up
the ledge there.
Once up collect the uzi clip that is to your right and then come back.
Climb down to the waters edge, you should be able to see a small ledge at water level
opposite. Do a running jump over to it and get ready to pull your shooters out. A demon is
patrolling this corner of the cavern, once you have taken care of it, jump onto the block
slightly to your right and head over to the corner.
Collect the uzi clips in the two alcoves and then pull the two switches
that open up a new exit. Before entering you may want to take a swim around the cavern as
in three of the four corners are small medi-kits.
Then enter the set of doors when you have finished. This leads you into
an arena style room with large archways overhead, as you walk down two nasty centaurs will
attack.
I find the best thing is to run straight down the side of the room,
along the cream slope, and hide behind the column at the other corner. This helps split
the two centaurs up. Use the column for cover and jump in and out picking the two centaurs
off one at a time.
Once you have dealt with them collect the uzi clips from the middle
section of the room and grab the two medi-kits from the end two corners. Now for the
switches, pull the two nearest the glass end of the room and then pull just one of the
other two. They both open one of the doors to the end room.
There is a reception committee waiting for you in the end room so have
your guns ready, the demon should come to you so wait around for it to get to the door.
When it is dead enter the room and have a look around before walking anywhere.
If you run into the room about half way across the pods burst, giving
you two flying demons and a centaur to deal with. Your best bet is to back into the room
when the pods burst leg it out and take care of the beasts from the doorway.
Once you have dive into the pool and pull both the levers at the
bottom. Collect the goodies from the left side of the room. Grab a breather and head into
the other doorway, there is loads of stuff to collect, so take a few breathers if you want
to get everything.
An underwater switch opens the locked doorway that is to its left. Swim
out to emerge back in the main water filled cavern. Swim straight-ahead and slightly round
to the left. Climb up onto the central island and haul your dainty frame up the blocks to
the top level.
Run around the edge to enter the central structure, climb up the block
you come to and again climb up to the left. Follow the path and enter one of the two open
doors you come to, a demon prowls within so take care of it.
Head off down the black corridor picking up the shells as you go, at
the end a door automatically opens for you. In this new room eight demons stand inactive,
waiting for something to happen.
Collect all the shells, saving the middle four till last. As you pick
the last one somebody turns the light off, not a good sign. If you try to make a run for
it, you activate all eight demons at once, and even for a girl of Lara's abilities eight
demons at once is a bit of a handful.
Thankfully there is a way to activate the demons one or two at a time.
Essentially the floor has triggers round the corner of the room where the door is located.
Carefully walk off the slab and walk straight ahead, as you reach the
black area the first demon next to the door springs to life. Use the slab to make your
stand, and take the demon out. Do the same again in a different direction should activate
the other demon by the door.
The remaining activate in pairs, as you get closer and closer to the
door. Slowly back up until your see or hear them moving and leg it back to the slab.
Once you have taken care of the final one leave the room and go in the
other now open door. Enter the next room that is lined with inactive pods, pull both the
switches and make a dash for the door.
Say hello to Mr Centaur and introduce him to Mr & Mrs Uzi 9
millimetre. The pods in here are again empty but do exploded causing you to fill your
pants, probably.
Get to the end of the room and head down the ramp, more clips and
health can be found on the left side. This final to last room has active pods with flying
demons. If you are careful they will not explode so can be ignored.
See that switch it opens the final door, pull it once but do not go
anywhere. The cut scene wastes valuable seconds and the timing is tight. Pull the switch
again and run for the door, some pods may exploded but ignore them and concentrate on that
door. Watch out for the narrow bridge at the end, dart through the door, slide down with
pods bursting around your ears and swim off to your right.
